Gynaecomastia is an excess tissue in the chest area which is a frequent problem with men. This can be caused, for example, by taking medications, or by hormone or weight fluctuations.
Before an operation is performed, other causes should be ruled-out.
Gynaecomastia – Operation
In many cases excess breast tissue can be removed by liposuction. In addition, removal of the remaining tissue is sometimes necessary. This can be performed by a small procedure. The outpatient operation takes about 2-3 hours and can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia if requested.
After the Operation
After 14 days the stitches are removed. Also, a special compression garment must be worn for 6 weeks to keep the swelling low and to aid in the skin shrinking process.
